ANZAC Day is an Australian national public holiday that is celebrated on 25 April every year. The name ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zeland Army Corps. We come together to show our thanks and respect to the people who have fought and died in the war for our country. We live freely today because of these brave people.
Australian soliders are called Diggers while New Zelands are knonwn as Kiwis. The brave people from World War I are called heroes.
The Ode is part of a special poem that is said during the ANZAC Day service.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
Lest We Forget
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
Lest We Forget
On 25 April, we lay flowers and wreaths at the bottom of war memorials as a way of saying we have remembered them. Also, we wave Australian flags to show how proud we are.
